World No Tobacco Day 2012--Quit Smoke Before It Kills You!!

Oral health refers to the health of your teeth and your mouth. Maintaining good oral health includes keeping your teeth free from cavities and keeping your gums free from disease. The concept of the oral health covers a wide range of topics and ideally you should be well informed about all of these to aid your dental hygiene as well as your general health.Oral Health is closely associated with our whole life.

Smoking products contain numerous poisonous chemicals such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, tar and nicotine. When you light a cigarette, these poisons start burning, which makes them more dangerous. The smoke passes through the smoker’s mouth, and leaves behind a sticky residue on their teeth. In fact, just one puff is enough to deposit stains on your teeth.

Smoking is hazardous to health.Smoking causes many problems to mouth. Most of us are aware of this fact, but no one is bothered about the dental problems.Smoking causes a staining on the teeth due to the nicotine and tar content. It can make the teeth yellow in a very short time, and heavy smokers often complain that their teeth are almost brown after years of smoking.

Smoking may also results in gum disease.Patients who smoke are more likely to produce bacterial plaque, which leads to gum disease. The gums are affected because smoking causes a lack of oxygen in the bloodstream, so the infected gums fail to heal. Gum disease still remains the most common cause of tooth loss in adults.

Tobacco use may greatly increases the risk for oral cancer, a disease that progresses rapidly and can be deadly if not diagnosed and treated early. The incidence of oral cancer ranges from one to 10 cases per 100 000 people in most countries. The prevalence of oral cancer is relatively higher in men, in older people, and among people of low education and low income. Tobacco and alcohol are major causal factors.

If you want to be a world free from hazardous diseased death, please response to this "world no tobacco day--2012" by avoiding the use of tobacco.
